Table of Contents
What is YesBackpage?
YesBackpage is a BackPage replacement, that’s their literal stand and tagline. Both Backpage and YesBackpage are sites for classified ads. They do what any other classified ad site does.
“You can browse ads posted by others, and post your own ads”.
Before we dive deep, here are the primary features YesBackpage offers:
- Listings across all categories, including adult.
- Available in 4 countries.
- No signup is required for browsing the YesBackpage.
- Signup is required for posting your ads.
- Posting ads is free except in some categories.
- Optional paid add-ons are available for extending ad length and highlights.
Products and services available at YesBackpage
Just like a shop is defined by the items it sells, a classified ads site is defined by the listings it has. These are literally the reasons why any user like us will ever visit the website.
Well, YesBackpage has 10 primary product/service categories.
These are:
- Local places: If you’re new to the locality, or even want to explore your locality better, this category is for you. You’ll find events, and addresses to bars and clubs, salons, spas, and other such landmarks.
- Buy/sell/trade: This has a long list of dozens of products. You can find buyers who’ve requested those items or sellers who are selling. There’s no “type” regulation. Meaning, I’ve seen people sell tools here but I’ve also seen people sell entire businesses in this category.
- Real estate: If you wish to buy/sell a condo, commercial space, land, house, etc. this is where you’ll find them.
- Gigs: If you need short-term services across various categories, such as events, writing, crew, talent, adult, creative, etc. you’ll find them here.
- Services: They differ from “gigs” because services may also be for the long term.YesBackpage lets you hire/offer services for financial, legal, real estate, labor, household, creative, beauty, and other sectors.
- Musician: You may want musicians, bands, equipment, or musical services for some reason. It’s all here.
- Automotive: This is where you can buy cars, trucks, RVs, and their parts, or services related to automotives.
- Rentals: This lets you rent almost anything such as commercial items, vacations, sublets, roommates, and everything else in between.
- Community: For all the group activities out there. You can find ride-sharing partners, classes, childcare, Lost 7 found items, volunteers, etc. It lets you find “people” rather than products & services.
My verdict: I’m happy with the product diversification. I however am not happy with the “number of available ads”. I did find quite a few categories entirely empty for multiple regions. I’ll rate it a 4/5.
Available in 4 countries
YesBackpage is still a better alternative than many other BedPage alternatives due to its geo-access. It’s available in 4 countries while most similar options are limited to just the U.S. or a few others.
YesBackpage is available in:
- United States
- Canada
- Australia
- And the United Kingdom.
My verdict: 4 countries are pretty good. It does cover some of the top first-world nations. Of course I’d have loved it if more countries were covered. However, we can not deduct major points because most other similar sites offer even fewer or just a few extra countries. Hence, I’ll rate it 4/5 . If you need access to more countries, one of these YesBackpage alternatives may be helpful.
No signup needed for viewers, required for posting
The signup/registration policy on YesBackpage is pretty impressive. It doesn’t need us to register to use YesBackpage as long as we’re browsing ads.
This means we can scroll around ads and also respond to ads from the provided contact details.
It does however demand registrations if you wish to post your own ad. You may want to sell something, hire someone or even offer your own services. In any case, posting your own ad requires a signup.
The signup is pretty liberal. Unlike many other similar classified sites, it lets you sign up with any e-mail ID. It doesn’t have to be from Gmail or any other specific provider.
My verdict: The fact that signup isn’t needed for viewing, and when needed allows all e-mail providers demand a 5/5.
YesBackpage pricing
YesBackpage is mostly free. The signup is free, the browsing is free, viewing ads is free and even posting ads is free.
That’s right, you can post most ads for free without having to pay. There are a few exceptions though.
Posting in the “adult” or “dating” category costs money. It’s not much though, for both categories the ad price is set at $3.00.
Optional Extensions:
Now, regardless of which category you’re posting to, the ads are valid for 20 days. After 20 days, they’re removed. You can of course repost your ad.
The other thing you can do is buy “extensions”. These are completely optional.
You can buy an extension for:
- 10 days at $10.00
- 20 days at $15.00
- Or 30 days for $20.00.
Optional Featured Ads:
This too is an optional package. However, it grants another superpower to your YesBackpage ads/listings.
If you get a featured package, your ad is shown at the top in your category, and it’s highlighted. Basically, it gets you the maximum possible exposure.
The featured ads can be bought for:
- 3 days $3.00
- 5 days $4.00
- 7 days $5.00
- 15 days $10.00
My verdict: A clear 5/5 for 2 reasons. First, payment is completely optional. When you do purchase an add-on, they’re dirt cheap and rationally priced.
YesBackpage User-Interface
Imagine you’ve never used anything like YesBackpage before this. How easy or hard will using YesBackpage be for you then?
Well, this is what you see when you first land on YesBackpage. This is where you select your country/region etc.
After the country, you need to select a product category that you wish to buy or sell products for.
You’re then directly taken to the available listings in the category.
There’s almost nothing else most of us will ever need from YesBackpage. However, clicking the three horizontal buttons on the top-left bring up the menu.
This menu gives you access to your account, credits page, and other pages you may need to go to.
My verdict: It’s simple and easy to use and deserves a 5/5.
Problem with YesBackpage: Unable to deposit cash
Hey, this YesBackpage review will not be complete if I’m not entirely honest or transparent about it.
As discussed earlier, YesBackpage requires payment in some cases. Yes, the payments are optional and only required if you post to specific categories, or purchase add-ons.
The problem is, if you go to the “Buy credits” page, you’ll probably get this error.
For the purposes of this review, I’ve tried logging out, using a VPN and a few other tactics. Nothing seems to work.
Hence, as of August 2024, there is a deposit glitch on YesBackpage. It may be solved by the time you read this YesBackpage review though.C
Frequently Asked Questions
If you’ve been through YesBackpage reviews, you’re certain to have a few questions. Allow me to answer a few of them:
Q. Is YesBackpage legit?
YesBackpage is a legitimate website. There’s no proof of the website being illegal or illegitimate. You are not asked to share any personal or payment details to use the platform.
Q. Is YesBackpage a scam?
Like all Classified ad sites, the website itself is not a scam. However, because it’s almost entirely based on “posts made by others”, those other people may be scammers. You can not be sure which ads are legitimate and which are a ploy for a scam.
Q. How to edit or delete a YesBackpage listing?
They’ve made the process extremely simple and easy to go through. Simply click “my account” from any page on the website. There, you’ll directly see your ads.
Simply click “edit ad” or “delete ad” depending on what you wish to do.
YesBackpage review- Final verdict
Time for my opinion then! I feel YesBackpage can be one of the strongest alternatives for BackPage, BedPage or any of those other classified sites. However, it is not “the best” yet.
I say it’s not the best for two reasons. First, the empty categories for various locations. Secondly, the whole glitch with deposits. That’s not what the “best” in any field does, is it?
However, if you’re looking for a place to post your ads for a service/product that’s free, YesBackpage is a decent option.
