Xbox Series X Accessories: What You Need for the Ultimate Gaming Setup. We will discuss the best accessories you can get to enhance your gaming setup. No heavy investments required and no technical expertise needed.
You can order most of these items for less than $50 to start with and that I believe isn’t a massive investment, wouldn’t you agree?
Point being, by the end of this piece, you’d be gaming on a better display, with better audio, better controllers, better framerate and basically better everything else.

Invest in a good headset
Imagine playing Resident Evil without sound! Most of the thrill is gone, isn’t it? Even non-horror games like GTA will feel dull without sound.
However, did you know that the “quality” of sound matters equally? How your car, trigger, the wind, water and everything else sounds contributes to the overall gaming experience.
We invest thousands into a gaming setup just to inch closer to the “immersive experience”. It’s one of those experiences that can’t be explained. How much difference will a good headset make? Well, a ton!
Then of course the quality of the headset becomes even more important in competitive games. The distance at which you hear footsteps, the clarity of direction, and communication with your teammates everything depends on your headset. Hence, be sure to choose the perfect headset, trust me it’ll be worth it.
Custom Controllers
The very first XBox Series X accessory I personally got was a custom Xbox Series X controller, actually, two custom controllers. The first was a pre-designed custom controller and the second was a design I made specifically for myself from a company called Aimcontrollers. Of course, there are many other providers for these custom controllers and you’re free to choose any you want.
A good start is getting custom controllers themed for your favourite game/movie or even a random design.
While this is primarily an aesthetic feature and doesn’t impact your gameplay, it does add a lot to your mental happiness, doesn’t it?
Additional storage
One of the most frustrating aspects with the X box series X? Its storage space! I mean I can’t install 5 A+++ games without having to worry about storage! And if you’re a gamer, you’d know 5 titles are a weeks’ food.
Uninstalling and reinstalling frequently isn’t exactly an ideal solution either, is it? You can either get the storage expansion cards for the console that function the same as in-built storage. This means you can play all games directly from the card.
The second option would be you plugging in an external SSD or HDD disk. Although you can’t play all games directly and this would act mostly just as a storage drive.
Racing/steering wheels
Well, this one’s subjective and only for you if you’re into racing/car games. But then again, who isn’t? And even if you aren’t, you can still use these for games like GTAV that aren’t specifically racing games but do have a large driving component.
XBox actually has a licensed racing wheel partner that you can find easily on Amazon. You can also get a wheel from third-party brands if that suits you better.
As for the type, you can either just get the wheel or the wheel and pedals+shifter combo. Of course the combo makes it more realistic and fun but it also has a tad-bit of a learning curve and is a bit more expensive.
Gaming chairs
A normal chair’s cool but that’s for normal human beings. We’re gamers, we’re better than normal ain’t we? Also, being more practical and rational, the chair is where you spend almost 100% of your gaming time! Hence, it’s very important that it’s comfortable and offers some more features such as height adjustment so your viewing angles are always perfect as well as movement so you can change your placement if you wish to.
Pick any chair you want but paying attention to the following points will help you choose better:
- Height-control
- Seat tilt
- Lumbar support
- Material: Prioritise a cloth cover over mesh.
- Other features: Chairs that have in-built decks for phones/headphones or even cups are desirable as well.
Conclusion- Xbox Series X Accessories: What You Need for the Ultimate Gaming Setup
That should be a decent list as far as amping up your gaming setup goes, don’t you agree? You don’t even have to get all of these, start with what you can afford and keep adding the little things to your arsenal.
Do note that it’s best to always prioritise framerate first because if your game is laggy, even the best controllers can’t make your experience enjoyable.
Also, this list isn’t absolute. Meaning, you can add even more items with time and as more things get launched. The basics remain the same, you just need to upgrade your display, audio and feedback hardware if you can.
