If the features caught your attention, let’s get started.
No signup/registration required
I’ve used about 50 VPNs in the past decade. Probably only 2 have ever offered this feature. X VPN doesn’t demand or force a registration. Of course you can register if you want to. But, you don’t “have to”.
Once you install the application, you can skip registration altogether. This grants anonymity and privacy at unprecedented levels.
User-Interface
Here’s what you see once you launch X VPN for the first time:
There’s the left-sidebar that I like to call the “navigational panel”. It lets me move around the VPN and change features, settings or servers.
Choosing countries is extremely easy as well. Either select a purpose (explained in the next section), or simply type the name of the country.
A single click is required to activate the VPN .All in all, I think it’s pretty standard and there’s absolutely no learning curve whatsoever.
Strict no logs policy
This VPN review wouldn’t exist if the VPN didn’t have a “no logs” policy. X VPN is very clear on its logging stance. It doesn’t log:
- Your originating IP address
- Your new/chosen IP address
- Browsing data
As the screenshot shows, it also has made clear that no data is sold to third-parties, not even govt. entities.
Hong Kong based VPN
Any VPN’s primary location matters. It affects the VPN’s liberty, rules, your privacy and basically everything else.
X VPN operates out of Hong Kong. It’s one of the most privacy-friendly locations and much more desirable than the US/UK or other such nations in terms of privacy.
Purpose and Game-specific servers
Another extremely rare feature X VPN brings forth is its ability to select “purpose” and “games”.
In the screenshot above, you can see it has options such as:
- For game & video: This gives us servers that are customized and tweaked for better game and streaming support. In fact, if you select this option, the VPN even gives you game-specific servers. You can choose from a list of games you’d like to play using the VPN!
- For BitTorrent: These are servers that support torrenting.
While it’s a small feature, the fact that even with 0 previous experience or skill, you can use the best servers for your needs is impressive.
225 locations and 8000+ servers
One of the primary reasons you use a VPN is to change your virtual location. Well, X VPN supports as many as 225 locations in total. You can find an IP address from nearly every country and region on the planet.
It has over 8000 VPN servers supporting those 225 locations.
This ensures there’s no speed or bandwidth bottleneck no matter the number of users.
5 Simultaneous connections
Each X VPN account can be used on 5 devices simultaneously. This means even if you’re a family of 3, and have about 2 devices each, a single account suffices.
5 is the industry standard when it comes to simultaneous connections and I’d say that is enough, isn’t it?
Split Tunnelling
Imagine you wish to unblock some content on Netflix, but you also wish to access your bank account on another tab/window simultaneously. The problem is, if a VPN changes your IP address, you won’t be able to access your bank account.
This is because banks would see you as a user from another country.
This is a problem that won’t happen with X VPN. Its Split Tunneling feature lets you exclude apps.
Meaning, you can keep using the VPN everywhere else while excluding other apps which must use your real IP address.
Obfuscated protocols
This is just a feature that helps hide “VPN traffic”. Normally, ISPs and other third-parties can identify when you’re using a VPN. Not your activities or which VPN but simply that your traffic is VPN-backed.
X VPN supports obfuscation. Some of its protocols let you obfuscate your traffic which means no one, not your ISP or govt. can identify your use of a VPN. This means platforms such as Netflix which ban all VPN traffic can’t stop you either!
In-house developed Everest Protocol
The VPN has developed its own protocol. So, any VPN uses “protocols” to encrypt your connection.
Some common examples are L2TP, IKEv, OpenVPN, WireGuard etc. Now, each protocol has its strengths and weaknesses. Some offer more speed but less encryption, or vice-versa. Others may be more anonymous but slower.
X VPN developed its own protocol that it calls “Everest Protocol”. It’s like the perfect blend of speed, security and unblocking capabilities.
Yes, the obfuscation we talked about earlier is available as well.
Of course in case you’re more comfortable with open-source protocols such as OpenVPN or L2TP or WireGuard (great for speed), those are available as well.
24X7 live-chat
I’ll keep it simple and direct. X VPN offers one of the best, fastest and most detailed responses I’ve seen. No, this line isn’t sponsored.
I contacted them initially for some issues. What I loved is not only were the responses fast, but they actually sent me screenshots of how to do things.
And yes, this live-chat seems to be accessible 24X7.
X VPN pricing plans and refund policies
X VPN has a 100% free forever plan. Scroll down for more details. If you’re interested in the paid plans, you get 3 options:
- 12 months (+3 months free): $4.79/month
- Monthly plan: $11.99/month
- 6 months plan: $9.99/month.
All the plans are backed by a 30-day moneyback policy in case you don’t like the services.
Of course you can make your payments using Cryptocurrencies for added anonymity.
100% free, no-registration trial
The moneyback policy we just discussed is almost not required. That’s because it’s one of the few VPNs that offers a 100% free trial. Yes, the no-registration policy still applies. Simply download and start using the VPN. There’s no bandwidth cap either. Use it as long and as much as you want before making your decision.
X VPN Review- Final verdict
Before I sign off, let me give you my two cents. Is X VPN the best VPN on the planet? I’d say no. That’s because that would be a very tall claim to make. I don’t have enough data or research to grant it that crown.
However, is it a good VPN? Definitely. It offers most features that you may be looking for. Of course, an audited “no logs policy” would be better. But hey, not everything is perfect.
On the brighter side, a 100% free plan, no registration demands, Everest protocol, 200+ locations, 5 simultaneous connections all add up, don’t they?
I’d say don’t take my word for it. Go try it out. Considering it’s free, you aren’t losing anything anyway.
