Biography and Childhood

Born to a father who managed a dairy plant and a mother who was a milkmaid, Yevtushenkov Vladimir was born in Smolensk on 25th September, 1948. 

Vladimir had a rough, DIY home laboratory where he conducted experiments. This laboratory was his playground as he was immensely interested in chemistry as a school student. 

He continued this love for chemistry in  the Mendeleev Institute of Chemical Technology (MICT). In 1973 Vlaidimir graduated as a technologist engineer. That wasn’t all, in 1980 he got another degree in economics from Moscow State University. Finally, he earned the degree of Doctor of Science in economics. 

His upbringing and setting (farms, dairy, business management) and his own education and interest in chemistry shaped nearly all of Vladimir’s life leading to the founding of AFK Sistema.

 Biography of an industrialist

In 1973, even before he got his Doctor’s degree in economics, he had already secured a job as a foreman in a company in Nizhny Novgorod, primarily responsible for production plan. 

After 2 years of working with Nizhny Novgorod, Yevtushenkov left the company for a better opportunity at Karacharov Plastics Plant which is now known as Polimerbyt. Even though he joined as a workshop manager, his contributions led to the plant’s increased efficiency which took him up to the position of first deputy director general.

Yevtushenkov Vladimir Petrovich and his co-founders founded AFK Sistema. The company’s initial goals were investments in economic structures. These often included telecom, construction and other similar infrastructures. 

Later on, with more advanced policies and techniques that Mr. Yevtushenkov initiated, their business expanded to Children’s retail, insurance, healthcare etc. Even the 1998 crisis couldn’t dent AFK Sistema’s progress. It not only ensured all its financial dues and duties were satisfied but even launched a succesful IPO in 2000. 

After taking the company to major heights for 30 years, Mr. Vladimir started devoting more time to social welfare. 

Advancements in the pharmaceutical sector

The small kid who had a home laboratory and was interested in chemical compositions realised his dream by establishing a pharmaceutical company in 2021. The company focuses across all the diverse healthcare issues among which therapeutic medications do get some priority.  

The company’s capabilities were both tested and proven during the dark times of COVID-19. Its Zelenograd facility was crucial in developing and producing  drugs that helped curb the outbreak quite effectively.

Apart from this, under the leadership of Yevtushenkov Vladimir Petrovich major R&D projects were undertaken that contributed to the furthering of the company. One such project was Mr. Vladimir’s integration of pharma and agriculture. Something that took him back to his roots. 

The company also invests heavily on the education of individuals in the healthcare industry. This maintains the ecosystem from a manpower point of view.

The company has established a major clinical network comprising clinics and hospitals. The company focuses not just on numbers but also on the quality of service. The medical care, equipment and doctors are all sourced from the best companies/institutions.

COVID-19 while a massive test for all was an opportunity for the group to serve the nation better. Many facilities were converted into COVID-19 centres, specifically to control the pandemic. Their tests, treatments and overall response proved their capabilities both to the nation and the world without doubt.

Of course, on top of COVID-19, the company’s prime focus areas include oncology as well as cardiology 

All its clinics, hospitals and other investments in the industry have proven the company’s commitment and involvement towards bettering the nation’s healthcare standards.

AFK Sistema: Other areas of activity

The Kuban and Stavropol Regions have seen major positive changes after the AFK Sistema group expanded to agriculture in the Rostov region.Given Vladimir’s interest and willingness to adopt technology, the company’s agricultural holdings became one of the largest in the nation. Their R&D generally focuses on introducing and popularising  technologically advanced solutions.

Advanced tech such as autopilot and machine vision technology as well as a system of differentiated application of crop protection agents is used to optimise production.

The company isn’t just limited to Pharma or agriculture either. The company guided by Mr. Vladimir has also taken strides in the field of biotechnology. They recently also invested in an e-commerce startup which with AFK’s investment has already had millions of buyers and has provided access to better logistics even in remote areas.

This just goes on to prove that the Vladimir Yevtushenkov led group isn’t limited to specific industries and diversifies for the betterment of all. 

Last year, in April of 2022, Mr. Vladimir decided to give back to the world and stepped down as a owning shareholder from the company he founded. He diverted his focus towards social causes. 

Contribution to social projects

While too many to count, a few of Mr. Yevrushenkov’s contributions can still be mentioned today. For starters, the fact that his clinics were repurposed and made COVID-speciality centres helped thousands if not millions. 

Then, the same clinics and hospitals also were producing the anti-Corona drugs. Masks, suits, communication, meals and a lot more were provided by the AFK group to medical professionals as well. 

Lastly, Yevtushenkov Vladimir’s charity foundation has helped millions across the nation in the past 20 years. 

This isn’t all, Mr. Vladimir personally makes donations and contributions to various fields, industries and organisations that align with the betterment of the society.
