What is Cointraffic?
As the name hints, it’s a site that gets you “traffic”. But not just any traffic, traffic from the “Cryptocurrency” space.
In simpler words, it’s an advertising and PR network. If you have a crypto startup/website/project you can use Cointraffic to attract potential customers.
If you have a website/blog related to the crypto space, you can use Cointraffic to sell positions and ad-space on your website.
Cointraffic has already established itself as one of the leading names in the industry. I say that because its current client-base includes some of the biggest crypto players including 1xBit/ KuCoin/ Bitpanda etc.
But, I’m guessing you aren’t a million-dollar company, are you? Is Cointraffic the right choice for you? I’d say yes but go through this Cointraffic review and be your own judge!
Cointraffic primary features
Before we start, here’s an eagle’s-eye view of the platform:
- Website: https://cointraffic.io
- Minimum deposit: €500.00
- Refunds of leftover funds: Yes
- Refund charges: 15%
- Payment modes: Bank, Crypto, Cards
- Publisher withdrawal frequency: Thrice a week
- Minimum publisher withdrawal: €25.00.
- Approval time: A few minutes (except on Weekends).
If those features piqued your curiosity, jump in!
Very high quality traffic sources
As an advertiser, you’d of course want only quality traffic for your money. One of Cointraffic’s highest selling-points is its high-quality site database.
You can place your ads on some of the biggest crypto sites out there. The list includes, but isn’t limited to AMB Crypto, Crypto Daily, DigitalCoin, LiveCoinWatch and many others.
Cointraffic does have a few minimum requirements for sites to be accepted. This makes sure low-quality sites get filtered and aren’t accepted to begin with!
Cointraffic User-Interface
None of its features or potential would make sense if Cointraffic wasn’t easy to use. Fortunately, it is.
This is what you’d see when you first login to the control panel:
As is clear, the left-sidebar gives you all the important options and menus. The right area on the screen gives you an overview of your campaigns, daily stats and 7/30 day performances.
I don’t see any cluttered or confusing options, do you?
Even if you’re a first-timer, you instantly know how to create a new campaign, add funds and everything else. That’s easy, isn’t it?
Do go through this review and you’d see more screenshots of how easy setting a campaign is with Cointraffic.
Free & Instant sign ups
Signing up at Cointraffic takes seconds (or minutes, depends how fast you type your e-mail ID).
Do note that it uses isolated accounts for both publishers and advertisers. Meaning, you can not use the same account/e-mail as both an advertiser and a publisher.
You must create two separate accounts, with two different e-mails if you wish to both run and publish ads.
However, I’m guessing most of you here will only use it either as an advertiser or a publisher. In that case, one e-mail is all you need to get started on Cointraffic.
4 primary Banner and PR options
We obviously need to discuss the available banner types and PR options on Cointraffic. There are 3 primary banner types and 1 PR option you can go with.
- Banner Ads: These are the most common type of ads. You share your ad-creative and those are displayed on your target site. The most common locations include the sidebars, top-bars and at times in-between text.
- Native Ads: These are my personal favorites. Native ads blend in with a site’s content. These look less like ads and more like legitimate, additional content. When done right, these have a much better chances of conversion.
- Pop-under: I may not personally be a fan of these but they do convert. These ads are more stealthy and silently open new tabs. These ads in most cases aren’t visible till the user closes his/her browser/tab which reveals the additional ad-tab that’s still open.
- Press-Release: You can also get a PR published on one of these leading websites. These aren’t banners but they do get you exposure, don’t they?
In my opinion, these options are enough to get you started and off the ground. If you agree, keep reading there’s more in store!
Your choices aren’t limited just to selection of the banner types. You can obviously customize your campaign in many other ways.
For starters, each banner-type gives you access to different customizations.
E.g. if you selected “Banner Ads” you’d also be able to set a number of other banner formats. You can select from:
- In-page ads: These are the standard banner ads that are displayed at some of the best locations on the site. In my opinion, these are the least intrusive, most honest and will net you the most conversion-optimized clicks.
- Sticky banners: These can be attached either at the top or bottom of the page. They remain permanently visible even if the user scrolls up/down on the page.
- Premium headers: These are the most expensive but also one of the most converting ads you can purchase. They’re placed at the very top of the site and cover the entire width of the site.
- Slide: A banner sliding in from the bottom-right corner, does seem lucrative, doesn’t it?
Similarly, for Native Ads, you get two options:
- Notifications: I’m sure you’ve seen these. They appear like phone-notifications. A thin bar with a icon and information about your site.
- Content-integrated: These are basically what Native Ads actually used to mean. These are ad creatives inserted organically on a website. They’re the hardest to spot as an “ad” and do convert well.
Press-Releases Customization
Press releases are very different from ad-banners, aren’t they? Naturally, we’d need different customization options for these. Fortunately, Cointraffic does offer quite a few of those.
Here’s everything you can configure:
- Gambling site traffic: You can select if you need or do not need pro-gambling sites. Enabling this makes sure you get a list of site who accept content related to gambling.
- Exclude US/UK selections: A lot of Crypto projects do not accept users from the United States. If your project has similar restrictions, you can turn this on. This would make sure your PR goes to the right parties.
- Do/no-follow link selection: There’s this option called “Do-follow” links only. Enabling this hides websites which do not offer do-follow links.
Other customizations
On top of the above-mentioned customizations, obviously Cointraffic lets you select so much more for each campaign you create.
- Include/exclude countries: You can enter a full list of countries you wish to include and/or exclude. “Including” a list of countries makes sure your ad is shown only in those countries and nowhere else. “Excluding” a country obviously means that the ad would be shown everywhere else except the excluded countries.
- Daily budget: You can obviously select a maximum budget that should be spent/day. The minimum amount if EUR 20.00.
- Desktop and mobile devices: Cointraffic also lets you choose if you want desktop or mobile traffic for your ads.
Cointraffic prices and CPM
How much exactly would you be spending if you use Cointraffic?
Well, there’s no fixed price. The pricing depends on the type of ad you’re running. Also, your account is changed on a CPM basis.
CPM, as I’m sure you’re aware is the abbreviation for Cost per mille. In simpler words, it’s Cost per thousand impressions.
While there are no maximum prices, there are a few “minimum” demands:
- Minimum deposit to your Cointraffic account: EUR 500.00
- Minimum daily budget: €20.00
- Banner in-page minimum CPM: €3.50
- Banner sticky ads minimum CPM: €4.00
- Premium headers minimum CPM: €5.00
- Slider banners + both Native ad formats: €3.00 minimum CPM
- Pop under minimum CPM: € 1.00
- Press-release: Minimum € 1500.00
I do believe the pricing is kept simple, straightforward and easy to understand. Don’t you agree?
Optional In-house creative designs
You can obviously upload your creatives for your campaigns.
However, what if you don’t have your ad-creatives already done for you?
Well, Cointraffic does let you order in-house creatives. They’d design an animated HTML5 banner for you, for a price.
Again, the prices aren’t fixed and would depend on your exact requirements.
Adding funds
I pledged to you that this Cointraffic review would be unbiased and so it is. This is one of those bitter-sweet moments that exists with every product out there.
Adding funds the first time is a pain! You can not just click on a button, make your payment and start a campaign.
Instead, you must first fill-in a form and wait for their managers to get back to you.
Now, it’s “sweet” because it keeps scammers and spammers away. That’s great. But, as an advertiser, it may be bitter to you for the added wait-time.
Payment modes
Once your account review is complete, you certainly can add funds.
Cointraffic makes sure this sure is a breeze. You aren’t forced to use one specific mode of payment, rather, you can pay using:
- Credit cards
- Bank wires
- And Cryptocurrencies (obviously).
Cointraffic refund policies
So, let’s say you add EUR 500.00 to your account and only use $50.00 of it. Do you get the rest of the money back?
Yes, you do.
Do note that refunds are possible only if the remaining balance in your account is equal to, or more than EUR 50.00.
Also, each refund transaction is charged at 15% of the refund amount.
Cointraffic support
Cointraffic does have an impressive support team.
For starters, there’s a live-chat. It’s not 24X7 and is only available during working hours but it exists.
When it’s live, the answers are fast, responsive and actually informative. I’m never redirected to FAQ or article links.
You can obviously also just e-mail them if your query isn’t urgent.
Cointraffic for publishers
If you own a website and would like to generate revenue by showing ads on it, you can sign up as a publisher.
Again, the UI couldn’t be simpler. There are like 5 buttons in total -> Dashboard / Earnings / your website / Reports and Press Releases.
Adding a website is extremely easy as well.
You simply click on the “BA Websites” button and choose your preferences:
You also get to customize you PR terms, primarily, you can set the price you’d like for publishing each PR article.
You can also specify if you’d be willing to offer do-follow links or would rather keep them no-follow.
Obviously, you’ll need to confirm to the Cointraffic requirements which are:
- Minimum 5000+ unique visitors per month.
- No URL shorteners
- You must own a custom domain
- And ofcourse, the website must be a Crypto website.
You must also choose what kind of ads you’d accept or not accept. You can:
- Allow/reject banner ads
- Allow/reject gambling sites
- And, of course select if you want Press Releases on your site.
Withdrawal terms for publishers
Let’s say you’ve made millions (or a few thousand if you don’t let me dream). You’d certainly like to withdraw your fortune, wouldn’t you?
On Cointraffic, withdrawals are sent out on each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
You can withdraw funds either via Bitcoin, or bank transfers.
The minimum withdrawal amount via Bitcoin is €25.00. For bank transfers, this is €300.00.
Cointraffic review- Final verdict
Time for my personal opinion on the platform then! Now, it sure has its pros and cons. On the “pros” side, you’ve got extremely easy campaign creation and advanced customizations.
The minimum budgets for each campaign type too is easily affordable.
On the “cons” side, the minimum EUR 500.00 deposit and 15% refund fee may hurt some of you.
However, if you look at the quality of sites being offered, I’m more than sure the cons aren’t a deal-breaker.
In a nutshell, considering you’re getting Crypto-traffic, it could be one of the best options in the market currently available. Hey, this Cointraffic review can only explain so much. Why don’t you sign up for free and check it out?
