Planning your content for social media has multiple benefits. This article will discuss some of them and let you be the judge if they’re worth it.
In my personal opinion, they’re more than worth it. In fact, I don’t think it’s even possible to succeed on social media without planning and scheduling your content.
But hey, don’t take my word for it. Go through this piece and see if planning your content is the way for you.
And yes, you can do it even if you don’t have a lot of time or prior experience. I’ve included a few social media planner tools on this list for you to look at.
Let’s get started then.
Table of Contents
1. Consistency
A major trick to succeed on social media is to be consistent. Problem is, the human body isn’t consistent with almost anything. You’ve got mood swings, you may get some other work or some other kind of problem may arise exactly when you’re about to post.
Hence, planning your content for social media ensures you wouldn’t have to brainstorm ideas or create content at the nick of time.
If you’ve got your content planned, half of your work is done already, isn’t it?
2. Coherence
There’s a specific theme/mood each content follows. When you sit down later to approach the same content, the same mood may not be there. This results in incoherent posts. They may seem too far away from each other.
When building a brand, coherence is very important. Have you seen specific apps and companies somehow always following the same overall “vibe” without being obvious about it?
Point is, if you plan more of your content at a stretch, they’re more likely to be coherent with each other.
3. Event-appropriate and relatable content
If you know when you’re going to post which content, you’re at an advantage. You can create content around topics that will be trending on specific days. This is true at least for pre-decided events such as a country’s independence day, some actor’s birthday, or anything else that has global recognition.
Because it’s on a topic that’ll be trending on the day, chances of your content going viral increase.
4. Better quality content
Most people do their jobs better if they spend more time on it. Hence, it’s only natural that your post that has a deadline of 6 days will probably be better than one that has a 30min deadline.
You can research more on the topic, experiment more with the colours, positioning of logos and many other things.
All of these come together to help you craft a much better content than you would on a shorter notice.
5. Better research
When you plan your content, you can research better. You can decide the types of content you’ll post one week and other types the next week. You can also see which time of the day suits your audience best.
Even with the basic formatting and layout, you can push multiple batches to see which gets the most engagement.
This data can then be implemented either for all future posts or whenever you have to make a sudden post. The sudden post will also have all the ingredients of a successful post because you’ll have the data at hand.
6. Strategize and create better campaigns
Have you seen this trend where brands post a confusing, totally vague campaign initially. The confusion by itself is a virality factor. People share it asking what it means and why would a brand do something this stupid.
A few days or weeks later, the brand pushes the second-half of the campaign that brings the first campaign meaning. Suddenly, people not only understand and think back to your first campaign but also get attracted to your second campaign because of the creativity.
This is just one of the ways you can use planning to your advantage.
7. Automation and multi-account management (saves time)
This is actually a “reason” why I prefer planning my posts. I get to use tools that do most of my work for me! E.g. Metricool is a social media planner that lets me post to Instagram, Youtube, Facebook, Twitch, X (formerly Twitter), Linkedin and many others.
For starters, a single post gets published across dozens of platforms at the exact same time, in a single click, or even without that if I schedule it! This saves a lot of time and platform hopping.
Then, these tools give me a report of each post’s performance, engagement, and even the “best time to publish” for each platform individually.
Conclusion- Advantages of Planning Your Content for Social Networks
I’m sure you’ve got a decent idea as far as the benefits of planning your social media content goes.
Well, it’s obvious these aren’t the only benefits. However, I’m sure you know by now that these benefits are already worth it, whatever else exists is sure a bonus on top.
As far as the actual work goes, you can either do it all manually or use some social media planner tool to achieve this.
